Take over our lease!!

We have a $450 studio that is on a lease and we need someone to take over our lease! The lease runs until the end of June and if you decide to lease it again, it's $100 off in July and August. No pets and smoking is off the property.

It is on 8th and Harrison called the Monterey Villa. It's close to campus and a couple blocks away from La Conga, Harrison Bar, McDonald's, etc. The onsite manager is pretty awesome. We're moving to Salem, so that's why we're giving up a great apartment.

You can move in around June 5th, but we can negotiate an earlier move in date.

corvallis community survey

received this by email, passing it on:

------------------------------------

Are you ready for a challenge? A community-wide challenge?

Taking action as individuals in concert with others is an exciting and powerful way to accelerate the development of a sustainable community.

The 2008 Corvallis Energy Challenge is a good example.

In 2010, the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition may identify another "challenge" to engage Corvallis and Benton County residents. We have identified three possible challenges and want to find out what you think. We also want YOUR ideas for possible challenges!

Please take a few moments to fill out the survey at
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/communitywidechallenge.

We will share the preliminary results at Town Hall 2010 on March 11, so please complete the survey no later than March 9, 2010.

Also, please forward this survey to everyone you know in Corvallis and Benton County. We want EVERYONE’S feedback.

Thank you for your participation!

Intoduction

I'm new to Corvallis, just moved here with my family (hubby and 3 kids) about a week and a half ago. We drove from Vermont to start fresh and my husband is going to use his GI Bill to go to OSU. My daughter is 5 and starts kindergarten tomorrow, and I have twin 20 month old sons. We like the area so far, seems like a nice place to call home. Just wanted to meet some people and chit chat about the area, see if anyone has any tips or advice about anything and whatnot. We've hit up the farmers market, I have to say it is quite impressive compared to others we've been to. We brought the kids to Avery Park, that was fun. Other than that just looking for some things to do for cheap with the family.

So hello to all of you!

internet?

moving to corvallis - anyone have experience with/comments on/recommendations for internet service?  i've used comcast and time warner in the past - found them about the same.  someone mentioned peak 10 to me as a local alternative, but i don't know much about it.  anyway, if anyone has found service or signal for any particular company to be really great (or really awful), i'd love to hear about it. thanks!

looking for a roommate

Just another shot in the dark. Looking to fill a room in my house. Trying to find someone laid back and cool. House is near the First Alternative Coop North store. Rent is $350/mo and equal share of the utilities. Roommates should be gay or gay friendly.

4 bedroom 2 bath house
Furnished house and bed and desk if needed

Anybody looking for a roommate? The hubby and I are looking for a new place to live. We would like to rent somewhere for a few months with cool new roommates.

I scoured Craigslist and found nothing that doesn't charge an arm and a leg.

The hubby needs to see an eye doctor so that he could pick up new contacts. And no, we don't have insurance.

So...

1. Does anyone know anyone with reasonable prices that he could do an eye exam and that could fill out a prescription?

2. Where could he pick up cheap, but decent contacts?

Thanks, y'all.
